steve + peggy
Peggy and Steve's reunion when he returns to the past.
That dance scene. /sobs
Anything about their life afterward.
steve + tony
Conversations about Peggy or Howard, or anything else they'd talk about during their 2-man mission to the past
First time Steve and Tony interact after Tony calls Steve out on how failing together sucks.
Did Steve and Tony ever talk during those 5 years? If so, what did that look like?
[au] Tony survives, but Steve doesn't know that when he goes back in time. So now Steve is really old and Tony is not.
[au] Tony survives and Steve comes back from returning the stones and they rebuild their relationship
steve + natasha
Awful life at Avengers compound before Ant-Man, basically lots of hurt/comfort with each other
[au] When Steve tells Natasha that maybe they should both move on, he asks her out on a date — it becomes a very sad attempt at moving on, but it's also a sad kind of solace.
steve + bucky
Honestly, they barely got any time back together. Steve and Buck MUST have talked before Steve just decided to go back in the past. Possible convo where he admits he's not coming back, and asking Bucky if he wants to return back to their time with him?
steve + anyone
So ... you can so Mjolnir now?
Conversations with various characters when he returns the stones to their rightful place in the past
Someone insisting on going back in time with Steve, and they return all the stones together and this person convinces Steve to come back (or, is convinced that he really doesn't want to)
shuri + anyone
Rebuilding the world from Wakanda
Meeting the other avengers
One-uping our science bros during reconstruction :D
tony stark (AI) + morgan/anyone
I imagine this will be mostly sass.
And with everyone who is not Morgan, this will basically be him joking about how he's going to live forever.
I... [ There’s a brief moment where it looks like he’s hesitating on how to phrase it, until he finally admits: ] Yeah. I mean, it affected me seeing all of you dead, of course. But it felt different when I saw you in all that. I don’t think I understood it, or knew what it meant. But now I’m starting to think it - you meant more than I was ready to realize at the time.
[ He nods slightly at Steve’s explanation, as if saying he understands. And he does. After what happened with SHIELD, he couldn’t have expected him to understand.
His features soften when Steve’s nose presses against his. When he feels him so much closer. To not put pressure on his right arm, he had laid down on his good side, which meant he couldn’t exactly reach out and hold Steve properly. But, they’re so close that at least it makes it easier to deal with it. And, when Steve kisses him, Tony kisses him back in kind, as if to show him how much this means to him - how much he’d be holding him if he could. How much he appreciates him and what he’s saying. Steve has yet to make him feel like a burden, and it’s something he appreciates more than what he can ever say. ]
[ Steve's eyes soften when Tony works through all of that and a smile emerges. ] Come to think of it, I think I had a moment that. [ He shakes his head slightly, even as he smiles as if it's all kind of silly, but he continues anyway. ] I don't know if you remember. All of us were standing on the platform, ready for our missions back in time. I gave that speech and you... [ Steve sighs, and the affection in his eyes changes to something else entirely. ] You smiled at me. Do you remember that?
[ There's a certain way that Tony's leaning toward him — it makes Steve sense that Tony wants to hold him but he can't. But he feels the weight of the kiss nonetheless, and Steve moves as hand to Tony's cheek as he kisses him one more time. ]
I guess 'we' means something a little different now.
[ His smile widens as Steve shares his own moment of realization. ]
Yeah, I remember. [ His voice lowers, as if he’s sharing a secret. And, well, it is a secret since Tony hadn’t admitted it even to himself. ] If it helps, you weren’t the only one that felt something at that moment. You’re pretty damn hot when you get all leader-like.
[ It’s definitely not a lie. And it hadn’t been the only time Tony had found that attractive in Steve, there really is something about him when he gets all bossy. Sometimes it’d get on his nerves but he has a thing for Steve taking charge.
His smile widens again before kissing him again. ]
I don’t know how I got so lucky with you, but I’m so glad you’re here.
[ Steve barely knows how to react to that and it ends up coming out as a look of flattery and surprise all mixed up together. His eyebrows rise, even if there's a sheepish smile on his lips. ] Oh yeah Tony? Is that how I became the boss? [ It's a direct reference to the conversation they had with Maria Hill all those years ago.
But in all seriousness, or maybe, romanticness: ] Your smile though. God. I just— [ Steve just smiles and shakes his head. ] Felt my heart jump.
[ That last kiss though feels perfect, just like what Tony says, and Steve finds himself planting a soft kiss on Tony's nose after that. ]
I think the last time we really talked like this was in Clint's barn. [ And while they didn't exactly talk like this, it was probably the last long conversation the two of them had before everything blew up. ]
Of course. It was like eye candy every day at work, so it was a little self serving. But, well, you do a pretty damn good being the boss, so that definitely helps.
[ Steve’s words about how his smile made his heart jump, makes Tony smile. Flattered, happy, and - god help him - he feels himself falling head over heels for this man. ] What can I say, I was just happy to be able to work with you again.
[ He chuckles softly at the nose kiss. ] I think you’re right. Good thing we have all the time in the world now to keep these talks going.
[ Before answering, Tony kisses him again. When he pulls back he smiles as he takes a small deep breath, just breathing in that scent of his. Is he tired? Yes. He’s wonderfully sore everywhere from the hike and their night together. But he’s also riding an emotional high right now, and he just wants to stay awake all day if that means spending all day with him before he has to go home. ]
I’m comfortable. I may fall asleep on you at some point [ he admits with a small sort of cringe ] but I’m good right now.
[ Steve just smiles. He could probably also smile at Tony all day. ]
I'm comfortable too. [ He likes the way Tony put that. It feels like it describes more than where just his body is. His heart feels comfortable too, here, with Tony, and Steve feels it too — how it's falling hard and fast right now. ] I love that we can talk about all this. And. I didn't say this earlier, but, I feel lucky to be with you too.
[ He smiles and kisses his cheek before settling his head back on the pillow. Close enough that they’re still pretty damn close, but with enough distance that he can see him. ]
...I really like having you here, you know. Maybe - if you want - you can...stop by again, even when we don’t go for hikes?
[ His smile grows, both relieved and happy that he hadn’t said something that would drive him away because he’s moving too fast. But, well. Considering how close they all came to not having anymore time, and the fact that it feels like they’re making up for what was lost or never discovered soon enough, he can’t help it. He’d love it if Steve could be here for much longer than just one more night. ]
I think you’ll come to find out I won’t be kicking you out anytime soon. If it was up to me, you’d stay for as long as you want to.
[ Any trepidation on Steve's end comes from the same place. He's falling hard, faster than he's ever fallen even if he's known Tony for more than a decade, and he doesn't want to scare Tony away. Normally, Steve moves so slow this isn't even a problem, but this time, everything feels different. ]
Are you ... saying what I think you're saying? [ There's a curious smile on Steve's face as he asks. ]
[ He gives Steve’s hand a squeeze as his smile widens. ]
If it’s something you’re comfortable with, yes. I don’t want you to feel like you have to, but if you’d like to stay here... you’re welcome to. And I obviously have extra rooms if you ever want your own space.
[ Steve looks up toward the ceiling for a moment, with a whimsical look in his eye. ] I think I'd like a room. If only so that I could invite you in sometimes.
But— Yeah. I'll need to go back to my apartment at least once to get some things. After that ... [ Steve grins, almost like he isn't sure what he's saying could actually be real. ] I'm all yours.
[ This was definitely a lot easier than Tony expected. After years of avoiding relationships, this may all be too fast. But...it feels right. And that’s what he’s running with, even if he feels his heart speeding up. It’s in the best way possible, though. ]
You can pick whichever one you want. And this doesn’t have to happen now, it can be whenever. There... Some days, especially after therapy I may be a bit much, so you’re welcome to get some space away, I won’t get offended. [ If anything, that makes him feel guilty that he’ll be subjecting Steve to all that.
He gives his cheek a kiss. ] But I promise, generally I’m not that bad of a housemate.
[ They'll have to find out exactly how often Steve actually uses his own room later, or if most of his nights will be spent in Tony's bed instead. Either way, Steve is excited to not only see more of Tony, but to essentially be able to see him all the time. ]
That sounds good. Maybe I'll pick one out when I get back. Say, on Tuesday. [ That comment about therapy though— ] A bit much huh? I'd actually like to come to therapy with you sometime if you're okay with it. Not tomorrow, but, maybe a couple of weeks from now.
[ Steve grins at the kiss. ] I'm sure you'll be great. As for me — well, you remember from the Tower. I have it pretty under control, but sometimes when I'm in a totally new place and get ... distracted, I accidentally end up breaking something. [ When Steve first started living in the Tower, he's pretty sure he broke the microwave. Aaaand also maybe Natasha's door handle, which hadn't been identical to his. In retrospect, Tony may have taken this all into account on Steve's floor in particular. ]
[ It probably shouldn’t surprise him, considering how supportive Steve has been about everything he has said so far, but for some reason it does. Other than Pepper, Tony has never really dealt with recuperation and doctor visits while dating someone, and his first instinct is to not have Steve deal with him because he already feels like it’s too much. Which, well, maybe he shouldn’t have invited him to stay with him considering the situation with his arm isn’t exactly resolving itself tomorrow. ]
Yeah, I mean. If you really want to. It’s an all day thing; I still have a couple of weeks to go before I’m done with the cradle thing Helen developed, and then it’s physical therapy so it might get boring.
[ He grins, his expression fond at the memories. ] Oh I remember. It’s okay, the only thing I’m fond of around here is you. And my bots. Beyond that, you can break whatever you want.
[ Especially while they’re having sex. As Steve will come to find out. ]
What happens when you're doing regeneration with Helen? [ He figures, at least, that that's what's going on here. That's what the cradle is for, after all. ] Do you lay in the cradle the whole time? Because in that case, physical therapy is a lot much more interesting.
[ He chuckles when Tony gives him permission to break whatever he wants. ] Understood. Don't break any bots. That should be pretty easy since I don't have a reason to accidentally need to touch them.
No, not the whole time. There’s not a whole lot left to regenerate, so I only spend an hour or so in there. It’s mainly to try and salvage tissue and nerves. If Helen is there, then we talk. Otherwise I just watch the news or something. Afterwards, whatever progress thats made is evaluated before the physical therapy starts for a few hours. Between the drive to and from the city, it just feels like a whole day.
[ It’s certainly not that he spends all day there, it just feels like it. And, the more he talks about it, the more he just wants to protect Steve from it. Like it’s an ordeal that he definitely doesn’t need to bother himself with, it’s bad enough that he’ll deal with him being sore and achy afterwards. ]
Then it’s settled, you have nothing to worry about. If you do break something we’ll just get a new one.
Sounds like you could use some good company the whole time. [ That's Steve's takeaway after all that. There's downtime during the cradle and downtown traveling to the city and back where Tony's all alone.
Steve smiles though. He doesn't ask Tony to let him come along tomorrow. Part of him thinks that out of all the ways of slowing down, this might be the easiest place to start. They only just started dating yesterday, after all. Even if Steve's about to move in with him within two days. ]
Okay. [ The way Steve says it sounds satisfied. Happy. ] You know, after the war, any war, physical therapy helped a lot of men recover. People talk about that a lot in group. [ Group, aka group therapy. ]
[ That’s...definitely not what Tony expected Steve to say. He half expected him to agree to just meet him back home on those days, so if he seems surprised it’s for that.
He smiles, though, as if he’s amazed. Because he very much is. ] You’re amazing, Steve Rogers.
[ He leans in to kiss him, slow and lingering for a moment. As if to silently thank him for making all this so much easier than he could have anticipated.
At what he says, he smiles softly. He didn’t know Steve went to those meetings, but he’s so damn proud of him for it. ] Yeah? You participate in groups a lot?
[ Steve's known Tony for a very long time now, and while there have been days in the past where he's wondered how things were with Pepper, he's kept them all mostly to himself. When they'd broken up after Ultron, he hadn't even known what more to say to Tony other than how he sorry he was to hear that.
But now, seeing that surprise on Tony's face and the beautiful, heart-pulling smile that comes after, Steve realizes that maybe, based on whatever experiences Tony's has had in the past, people didn't quite treat him right, or maybe, through no fault of anyone's, things just hadn't worked out long enough for Tony to see what a good relationship looks like. Or at least, the way Steve thinks good relationships should work.
That kiss makes it hard for Steve to think. But there's something he wants to tell Tony. ]
You. [ He says, looking into Tony's eyes like he's the most beautiful man in the world. ] Tony Stark. Deserve everything. [ Steve smiles then, for just a moment. ] You deserve all the love the world has to offer. I want you to know that. And that I think that.
[ As for groups though, it's something that Steve's excited to share with Tony. ] I started back when I lived in D.C. Though, I didn't go as often back then. Sam got me into it. He used to run one for veterans trying to adjust back to living at home. Now I help him out when I can. During those five years, I went almost every other day.
[ There’s something about the way Steve looks at him, and says those words, that disarm him. It makes him feel warm from the inside out, and Tony is speechless for a moment before he kisses him again, as if that’s the only way he can say how much he appreciates him. ]
I feel like I do have everything right now, right here, with you.
[ He kisses him again before listening to him talk about the group sessions, and Tony smiles. ]
[ The grin that spreads on Steve's face comes immediately when Tony says that. Good, he thinks softly, and there's something that settles a little inside Steve.
And yeah, the kisses are starting to get quite distracting. ]
I think so. There are moments where knowing that there are other people is enough. [ He lets out a small sigh. ] But there are a lot of moments where I sat in that chair and had no idea how to move forward.
