steve + peggy
Peggy and Steve's reunion when he returns to the past.
That dance scene. /sobs
Anything about their life afterward.
steve + tony
Conversations about Peggy or Howard, or anything else they'd talk about during their 2-man mission to the past
First time Steve and Tony interact after Tony calls Steve out on how failing together sucks.
Did Steve and Tony ever talk during those 5 years? If so, what did that look like?
[au] Tony survives, but Steve doesn't know that when he goes back in time. So now Steve is really old and Tony is not.
[au] Tony survives and Steve comes back from returning the stones and they rebuild their relationship
steve + natasha
Awful life at Avengers compound before Ant-Man, basically lots of hurt/comfort with each other
[au] When Steve tells Natasha that maybe they should both move on, he asks her out on a date — it becomes a very sad attempt at moving on, but it's also a sad kind of solace.
steve + bucky
Honestly, they barely got any time back together. Steve and Buck MUST have talked before Steve just decided to go back in the past. Possible convo where he admits he's not coming back, and asking Bucky if he wants to return back to their time with him?
steve + anyone
So ... you can so Mjolnir now?
Conversations with various characters when he returns the stones to their rightful place in the past
Someone insisting on going back in time with Steve, and they return all the stones together and this person convinces Steve to come back (or, is convinced that he really doesn't want to)
shuri + anyone
Rebuilding the world from Wakanda
Meeting the other avengers
One-uping our science bros during reconstruction :D
tony stark (AI) + morgan/anyone
I imagine this will be mostly sass.
And with everyone who is not Morgan, this will basically be him joking about how he's going to live forever.
[ He nods, as if to say that he's probably right. Nostalgia does add a different component to it that nothing would be able to replicate.
As Steve speaks, he listens with his own smile on his face. It's nice, he thinks, that they can share information like this between each other. Tony has never shared much about his mother - not just with Steve, but in general just because it always feels like such a personal topic for him, but right now he doesn't mind it at all.
He chuckles when Steve admits that they set the marshmallows on fire a few times, and he nods. ]
Oh yeah. The trial and error phase. But there's something that's pretty damn good about that, though.
[ Tony doesn't mind that Steve is moving closer to him, and that's part of the reason why he doesn't even notice it. As he finishes his burger, he doesn't quite notice the drop of barbacue sauce that's left on his chin. He's too busy just stretching out his legs a bit as he sighs contently. ]
...is it too soon to plan out our next trip? Or should I wait 'til morning to see if I survive the sleeping bag?
[ Steve, on the other hand, hasn't shared much about his mother, but it isn't because it's too personal. She's just never come up, and with everything the Avengers used to do day-to-day, small moments like this between them were rare.
As Tony stretches out his legs, Steve finishes his own burger too, setting the plate aside. ]
Not too soon at all. [ He answers with a content smile on his face as he puts some stuff away. ] You should come down to my apartment next time. If you don't end up liking the sleeping bag, we can do a day hike from there. [ Getting up, he goes back to his pack and grabs some napkins and hand sanitizer, so he can wipe down the pan and they can wash their hands. ] There's a beautiful mountain hike that only takes a couple hours. Then you can crash with me or stay at the lodge.
[ It's funny how, when Tony isn't in the suit and the world isn't about to end, Steve stops thinking about the suit itself as possible transportation. Because truly, if Tony wanted, he could bring his suit and just fly home. But ultimately, maybe because they are here and completely disconnected from technology, Steve's mind doesn't even go there.
When the pan is clean though, he glances back up toward Tony and sees the touch of sauce on his chin. ]
Hey— you've got a little— [ Steve gestures toward his own face and tries to point at the mirror image of where the sauce is. But when Tony tries to wipe the other side, Steve is already kneeling down in front of him, fingers adjusting the napkin in his hand to a clean spot. ] Here, actually. Let me— [ And before he knows it, Steve's wiping it off from Tony's chin himself. ]
[ Even if he doesn’t know how he’ll fare after sleeping on the ground, he doubts he’ll actually stay at the lodge. It doesn’t sound as appealing as either crashing with Steve, or sleeping in the same tent, but he keeps that to himself. Maybe one day even Tony himself would contemplate the suit as a viable transportation option to go in and out of there, but it’s not crossing his mind now, either. Partly because of his arm, but mainly because in his head it’s almost already something he has buried in his past by now.
As Steve cleans the pan, he watches the fire in content silence before he blinks over at him when he mentions he has something on his face. And he tries to get it, really, but no luck.
But suddenly Steve is there, though, and he’s more focused on him than literally anything else. He has always known Steve Rogers is a very attractive man, but...it’s hard to look away now while they’re so close to each other. Earlier he had felt so self conscious of having Steve so close to him, of him being able to see the remnants of the blast from the stones, but now he’s finding himself hoping this won’t end. That they can stay this close for just a bit longer.
He opens his mouth to say something, but it’s as if he changes his mind at the last minute before he speaks again a moment later. ]
[ It only takes three tiny wipes to get it all off. It would've only taken two, actually, if in between the first and second wipes, Steve hadn't glanced up at Tony's eyes and gotten distracted.
It goes a little something like this.
The first time, Steve is focused and manages to get most of it off at once. But he's so close to Tony now that he can't help but look up, his eyes lingering slightly as they trace over Tony's lips to his nose, then his eyes. Steve sees something then, even if he doesn't know what it is, but it's enough to plant a seed of wonder, or the possibility that maybe—
He smiles, just a little, and maybe too affectionately, as he glances back down and realizes that he's totally missed the mark with his second wipe.
His heart starts to speed up again when Tony opens his mouth to say something, and Steve lifts his eyebrows in anticipation before nothing happens. He wants to ask Tony what? but for the next few seconds, he only adjusts the napkin one last time, and actually gets the rest of the sauce off with his third and last wipe. ]
There. All gone.
[ Tony says thanks then, but Steve still doesn't move away. The fact that he's drawing this out on purposes makes his heart pound faster. But as he looks into Tony's eyes, it's almost like he's waiting, and asking, for Tony to go on. To say whatever he didn't say, earlier. ]
[ Some part of Tony’s brain tells him to not be so obvious. To look away. To not stare. But, when his eyes meet with Steve’s and he also doesn’t look away, he just...can’t help it. If anything, his heart feels like it does some sort of fluttering thing that takes him by surprise and he doesn’t know what to do with it.
Especially when he notices the affection in Steve’s eyes, the way his features seem to soften along with the look in his eyes. Is he just imagining it? For a moment he can’t help but wonder if that’s the case, if it’s just the campfire playing tricks on him, but he’s still there. Steve isn’t moving away, and it’s like he needs to remind himself to breathe again. ]
...is it bad if I really want to kiss you right now?
[ The confession comes out before he can stop it, the way Steve is looking at him disarming him in a way that he doesn’t know how to ignore it. ]
[ Even a decade ago, a question like that from Tony would've been enough to fluster Steve. But now, after fifteen years and ups and downs — of frustration and forgiveness and friendship — Steve lets out a small sigh of relief.
He hadn't even truly known it was what he was looking for until Tony asked.
Now that he has, Steve's relief is followed-up with a small shake of his head — no, it isn't bad at all — and with a subtle, hopeful smile on his lips. Steve is already close, and after he sets the napkin down on the sand, he leans himself in closer, this time completely, and utterly inside of Tony's personal space.
If by then, Tony hasn't already kissed him first, Steve will waste no more time waiting.
No matter who starts, however, Steve's reaction will be the same.
The moment their lips first touch, Steve breathes Tony in, and he kisses Tony deeply — like after all this time, he thinks they deserve to know everything and anything about each other. But the kiss is also just barely tempered, like a passion that sits perfectly on the fence guarding the realm of lust.
Both of them, however, don't seem to want to let it stop after that. Without their lips ever parting, they kiss a second, then a third time, before Steve finally breaks away with a small smile on his lips. His cheeks look a lot redder now too, but maybe it's just the way the campfire is reflected in his face. ]
Just so you know, [ He starts, his voice quiet and intimate, so that even if there's no one else here, only Tony can hear him. ] I... hadn't planned for that to happen.
[ For one brief moment of internal panic, Tony can’t help but wonder if he ruined this. Had he read the signs wrong? In the back of his head he already has excuses for how to end the night early if needed - hell, he’ll blame the painkillers he’s still on as the reason why his thoughts are so unfiltered, if they will keep things from getting awkward and uncomfortable.
But then Steve sighs, and he shakes his head, and Tony lets out a breath that he hadn’t quite realized he had been holding. And he smiles, so big and happy that it’s a wonder it doesn’t hurt.
Tony moves towards Steve at the same time, his eagerness not allowing him to wait anymore, and ultimately it doesn’t matter who kisses who first. The taste of his lips is all he can focus on, all he can soak in, and he returns the kisses in kind. God, how had they never done this? His free hand moves to rest against his chest, and unconsciously he finds himself grasping onto his shirt as if to keep this from ending.
Still, they should probably breathe. When they pull back, Tony stays close and a soft chuckle escapes his lips at Steve’s words. ]
It’s okay. I think that makes this even better. [ He ‘steals’ another quick peck. ] Now I’m glad you brought barbecue sauce with you.
[ Kissing Tony is so natural that it feels like something long overdue, and Steve feels completely enveloped by it all. He finds himself wondering too — how had they never done this? how had they waited this long? — and immediately, he can come up with a million reasons. Still, Steve smiles, because they're a million reasons that don't matter anymore.
Steve stays close too, experiencing for the first time what it means to be this close to Tony to begin with. But when Tony steals another, quick kiss, Steve finds himself breathing out a laugh. ]
I'm just glad you came at all.
[ It's still surreal — how far from this they were just a few hours ago, and where they are now. ]
I feel like... [ Steve's eyes wandering to the sand beneath them for a moment, as he works it out. He laughs again. It's still breathy and feels like with it, carries the sense that Steve still thinks this is unbelievable. ] ... lately, I just can't get enough of you.
[ His features seem to soften when he says that, just watching Steve as if he wants to memorize him. His heart feels like it might burst from happiness for a moment, but it’s the best feeling in the world and he can’t say he minds it. ]
Yeah? [ He lets go of Steve’s shirt, his hand moving up so he can run his fingers along his hair. ] I’m glad to hear that, because the feeling is mutual.
[ He smiles, a little shy for a moment about what he’s about to admit. ] ...the last few weeks, visiting you at the compound was the highlight of my week. You’re going to make it hard to top this one [ he adds with a playful smirk ] but...I’m so glad I didn’t ruin today. I was afraid I was going to make it awkward.
[ Steve doesn't even know how much he enjoyed Tony holding onto his shirt like that until he lets go. But it's replaced by the feeling of Tony's fingers in his hair, which is its own new and comforting sensation.
As Tony talks, Steve just grins and feels his own heart flutter at the thought that Tony Stark had been looking forward to seeing him on all those days. As for his hands — he sets one lightly near the top of Tony's leg, and the other on his waist.
When Tony smirks though and admits being afraid of making this awkward, Steve's own smile is incredibly soft. ]
No, [ he says, as both his hands squeeze Tony lightly ] I can be... slow sometimes. Even after all the lessons, I've learned about waiting. I don't know that... [ He leans forward again for a full kiss, and god, every time he does it, it feels like he wants more. So when he finally wills himself to stop, there's a breathiness to the way he talks. ]
I don't know that I would've been able to figure this out on my own. [ He sounds embarrassed, too. ] What it means to want to see someone day after day.
[ He knows it must sound obvious to someone like Tony, who's had so much more experience on this than he has. But Steve has always needed someone to make it black and white. To kiss him, or to tell him he should ask someone out. Steve's never really been able to do this without encouragement. ]
[ Oh, Tony is already loving where Steve’s hands have situated themselves. It makes his smile grow when he feels them, and he rests his forearm on his shoulder so that he can run his fingers along the base of his neck, gently brushing along his hair.
When Steve kisses him again, he just holds him closer as he kisses him back. Tony had already been enjoying camping but this, now, is so much better. Especially since they get to do this without anyone interrupting them. They can go at their own pace, and there’s something so beautiful about the privacy they’re getting between the lake, trees, and stars. He couldn’t have thought of a better place than this.
At Steve’s admission, Tony smiles. ]
That’s okay. I guess for the first time, my lack of shyness about all this is coming in handy. [ He kisses him again before gently pulling him in, resting his forehead against his for a moment. ]
...if I’m ever coming too strong, though, please tell me. I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable about any of this.
[ In all honesty, the setting feels like a dream. Nothing else except the two of them exist — except the crackle of the fire and the warmth it coats them with. On occasion, there's the soft sound of a wave in the distance, or of the wind brushing against the trees. The perfect backdrop to the perfect moment.
When Tony pulls Steve in again, he's practically moved as flush up against Tony as possible by then. The two of them are a vision — Tony barely still sitting on the edge of the log, knees spread open just wide enough for Steve to be kneeled in front of him, their torsos pressed against each other when they kiss.
Tony asks then, for him to say something if he ever feels uncomfortable and Steve shakes his head again with a grin on his face. ]
I can't imagine that being possible. [ If anything, he wants Tony to come on stronger, and it's reflected in the mix of tenderness and want in his own eyes. ] If do anything though, tonight— [ and quickly, Steve adds: ] or anytime, that hurts your arm, I want to know. Promise me you'll tell me?
[ He never thought he would ever get to experience the way that Steve felt against him, but now that he does, he doesn’t think he can go without it again. It’s addicting - his scent, the way his lips taste, the way he’s touching him. It makes him suddenly very excited about the fact that they’ll be in a tent. Together. All night. He doesn’t expect anything to happen - the last thing he wants is for Steve to ever feel rushed, and he had been honest about not wanting to do anything that would make him uncomfortable. But even just being together, alone, is a new level of intimacy that he wants to explore with him.
When Steve shakes his head, Tony grins back. Especially at that look on his face that makes his heart feel like it skips a beat.
His smile only falters a little when Steve makes that special request, mainly because Tony doesn’t want to ruin things - and somehow it feels like bringing up his arm would ruin things - but after a moment he just nods slightly. ]
Okay. I promise. I think you’ll be able to tell - when it’s bad it... I can’t quite hide it, but I’ll tell you. [ He smiles slightly, looking down for a moment. ] ...sorry. I kinda wish you wouldn’t have to deal with...it.
[ Steve sees the way Tony's smile changes. It's impossible not to see, when you're this close to someone and trying desperately to etch every single detail about them into your mind.
Tony promises though, nonetheless, and Steve nods, even if he's immediately set on making sure Tony never thinks that he'd mind something like that. So he moves one of his hands to Tony's free one and squeezes it for the first time. ]
Tony... [ Steve looks directly into his eyes then, and maneuvers his body a little to prompt Tony into looking back at him. ] I get it. Things like this... they change your life forever. And will keep changing it. But I want to be very clear about this. [ And if Tony hasn't looked at him yet, Steve will wait until he does to continue. ] There's no reason you should ever need to apologize because of your arm. Hell, Tony, you saved the world. You did something that gods could barely do. And lived.
[ He pauses, for a second, as a very, old memory resurfaces and compassion writes itself onto Steve's brow. ]
You were the guy to make the sacrifice play. [ He says it all slowly, just in case Tony needs a moment to remember where it's from. ] To lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you. [ A beat. ] Except, it was the world that crawled over you, Tony. From where I'm sitting... that arm is proof that you're one of the best people I know.
[ Although on most days Tony takes his recovery and the aftermath in stride as much as he can, it's easy when it's just him 'dealing with it,' as he calls it. Sure, Rhodey, Happy, and Pepper had all been there during his stay in Wakanda, they all helped while he was getting back on his feet, but at the end of the day they all had their lives to go back to. He wasn't a burden for them to deal with (although he knows they don't see it as that, he sees it as that).
Now, the last thing that Tony wants is to be that burden for Steve. For him to deal with it - with him - for what's to come. It feels unfair to have him deal with the collateral damage.
As Steve speaks and tries to make eye contact, Tony turns to him. He doesn't expect him to bring up that old memory, and it shows by the way a faint sort of smile crosses his face as he shakes his head slightly, as if to tell him he doesn't have to say that, but he does. And it leaves him speechless for a moment before he leans in and kisses him again as he gives Steve's hand a squeeze.
Pulling back slightly, he stays close enough again to rest his forehead against Steve's for a moment before smiling at him. ]
Thank you. I'll keep that in mind, I promise.
[ It's obvious that Steve's words help, because it's easier to make this promise. ]
...you've got quite the way with words, you know that? You make it very hard to say no to you.
[ That trace of a smile reviving on Tony's face is encouraging to Steve, and when Tony shakes his head in protest, Steve feels a certain swell in his chest. He sees it as an act of humility — that despite all he's done, Tony still doesn't want the credit — and it makes Steve start to fall for him a little harder.
But when Tony truly says nothing for a moment, Steve searches in his eyes for any clues, hoping that he hadn't made things worse, hopeful that he was able to make things better. The kiss, however, both sudden and welcome, blows anything Steve was looking for out of the water. Just like every other time, he relishes it completely, not sure that he ever really wants it to end, and when they breathe again, forehead to forehead, Steve can't stop the soft smile that curls onto his lips.
That smile grows wider when he hears what Tony has to say. ]
So I've been told.
[ By Sam, by Rocket, by Scott. And maybe by Tony once, based on the look on his face before they first traveled back in time.
The smile on Steve's face transforms into a smirk. ]
Guess that means you'll have to be careful. Otherwise, you'll be saying yes — a lot.
[ He lifts his head up then, which has the effect of bringing Tony's with him. As he asks his next question, he interweaves his fingers with Tony's. Another first. ]
[ Steve definitely made things better, and it shows at how the lightness in Tony seems to return. That in its own is almost a miracle, and Tony isn’t oblivious to it. He can’t put into words how much he appreciates Steve’s words, his actions, and he can only hope he has plenty of time to show him how much it means to him while they’re together.
He chuckles, a warm sound that escapes his throat. ]
I don’t know if that’d be such a bad thing.
[ Feeling Steve’s fingers in his make his smile grow, and he can’t help but look down at their hands together for a moment before he turns to Steve. God, he’s loving this so damn much.
With a nod, he stands with him and, as they cross the small distance between where they had been sitting and the tent, he brings Steve’s hand up so he can place a soft kiss against his knuckles. Tony has never been the best at relationships, hasn’t had the best luck with them, but here in their private corner of the world, the kiss is a silent promise that he’s in this for as long as Steve will have him. Their timing may have been awful in the past for them to realize everything they’re feeling right now, but he’s done wasting time.
Once they get to the tent, he follows Steve’s lead on how to properly get in and, although this is most definitely not something he has ever experienced, he can’t help the huge smile on his face as they get settled in. ]
[ When Tony looks down at their hands, Steve's eyes follow his, and he smiles as he squeezes Tony's hand again, just to see what it looks like when their fingers are weaved together.
It looks and feels like they fit together perfectly.
As they walk, however, Steve feels Tony lifting his hand and he looks over just fast enough to see the kiss on his knuckles just as he feels it. It makes his heart swell almost to the point of bursting. God, he wonders, how can I be falling for someone this fast? Ever since Peggy, he's worked so hard to move on, to find somebody, just as she wanted for him. But that's how every relationship Steve's been in — if they even lasted long enough to be called that — has felt: like work. Even with Sharon, Steve could tell that his heart was never truly in it. But with Tony, for the past few weeks, and especially now? He can't imagine this... exuberant feeling could ever end.
When they get to the tent, Steve's instructions are pretty simple. Use the zipper to let yourself in or out. Leave your shoes outside, or pushed up against the edge of the tent on the inside. And then the suddenly exciting part: roll out your sleeping bag, side-by-side by mine. He shows Tony, too, that if he wants, he can unzip the entire sleeping bag and give himself twice as much space on the ground — until he's ready to fall asleep. ]
Not unless the weather suddenly changes. [ Steve gives a serious answer, but then he teases back: ] Don't worry. If it collapses, I'll protect you.
[ As they walk, Tony’s going through his own moments of amazement at the fact that he can be feeling so strongly for someone this quickly. In the end, though, he knows that it’s not necessarily quick. If he’s honest with himself, all this has been building for a while. All those visits, their talks, their meals together... They’re getting to know each other in a different level, but Steve isn’t a stranger.
Hell, in some ways he knows him and understands him better than some people he knows. It’s comforting that he knows what he has lived through, to the point that he’s now less hesitant to let him in with what he has left to deal with. Even their past strife and fights had made them see sides of themselves that very few people actually know about, and now they’re here. Holding hands, as if they don’t have a care in the world anymore.
As Steve gives his instructions, he listens with a sort of admiration and affection on his face that he can’t quite hide. Honestly, just watching him right now makes him happy. He follows the instructions as well as he can, and accepts Steve’s help whenever it looks like he might need it, and once they’re comfortably inside Tony grins. ]
You’ll protect me, huh? Okay, then the tent can fall if it wants to.
[ He leans in for another kiss, slow and sweet as he savors the moment. When he pulls back, he smiles and explains: ] Gotta celebrate being in a new space together.
[ Tony's right. Years ago, he told Steve he doesn't trust a man without a dark side. Steve had told him in return that maybe he just hadn't seen it yet. And now, light or dark, they've seen more shades of each other than others normally see in a lifetime. So yeah, Tony's right. It feels fast and it is fast in many ways, but it's also been a very, very long time coming.
As Steve talks, the interest and affection that Tony projects make him blush a few times, even if Steve just pushes forward with a bashful smile. Before he knows it though, everything's laid out and they can see shadows from the fire dancing on their tent flap. And then suddenly, it really is just the two of them.
When Tony leans in for a kiss, Steve can't welcome it more, and he relishes how slow it is. Now that they're away from the fire, he can hear the sound of Tony breathing against him and when Tony starts to pull back, Steve is reluctant to let go. He does, however, eventually give in, and he's glad he does because when Tony says a kiss christens them being in a new place together, Steve can only smile. ]
Good thing we're going to a lot of new places soon.
[ Steve pulls Tony in again then, and this time, it really feels like he has no intention of letting go. One hand wraps around Tony's back, careful not to jostle his sling, and Steve's other hand makes its way to Tony's jawline, cupping it carefully as his fingers feel the bristles of Tony's goatee. Both of his hands seems to push and pull Tony closer to him with every kiss. ]
[ There’s something beautiful about the way that Steve blushes and he gets that bashful smile of his. Tony tries to not make it obvious how much he likes it, mainly to not make him uncomfortable, but it’s a little hard. Especially when he can hardly look away. ]
Yeah, I think we need to make this a tradition whenever we get somewhere new.
[ Especially with how many new places they want to explode. Tony had already been excited about their plans, but this just adds a new layer of excitement on top of it all.
As Steve pulls him in, Tony gladly melts into his touch as he kisses him back. Like Steve, he doesn’t want any of this to stop. He wants this to last forever, and as he grasps his shirt and pulls him close as he kisses him deeper, he wants him to know just that. ]
[ Out here, under the night sky, there's barely any sense of time. All that Steve knows is that it's dark and that maybe an hour, maybe two, have passed since he first started kissing Tony inside their tent together. In reality, at least three hours have already gone by.
Even in his short term memory, it feels like they went slow — that they stayed upright and melted into one another for forever — but time has a weird way of stretching when you're completely consumed by someone else. In actuality, it took only about one more minute before Steve leaned back or Tony nudged forward, and before they knew it, Tony was on top of Steve, their bodies aligning perfectly and throughout the rest of the night, as long as Tony didn't try to get off, Steve's arms held and helped to keep him there.
And now, every time Steve takes a breath, he moves Tony's entire body up and down with him. The tent is starting to heat up, for no other reason than the fact that the two of them — and Steve, with the serum coursing through his veins — were using up all the oxygen and generating a lot of heat. But without skipping a beat, Steve takes only one of his hands away, searching above and behind him for the tent zipper before he drags it up just a foot and breeze of cold, fresh air enters the tent.
When they both feel it, it's as if breathing takes on a whole new meaning, and Steve just finds himself chuckling into Tony before he finally breaks away to get some air.
Never, in a million years, had Steve ever thought that it would be Tony. They'd had so many obstacles between them. And yet, here they are, so happy, so breathless, so spent and yet both wanting so much more.
It's been a long time since he's been this excited in his life. And despite how much he isn't willing to admit it right now, Steve feels like this... this has to be it. Nothing could beat this. ]
[ It’s easy to lose track of time when all Tony wants to do is to continue to kiss him, to kiss him deeper, to memorize the way he feels against him. When he ends up on top of Steve, it helps that Steve is able to hold him in place and Tony doesn’t have to wonder if he’s too heavy for him, or if he gets tired of holding him up. Tony tries to use his arm to every once in a while lift his own weight so that Steve won’t have to do it alone, but even then, the serum guarantees that Tony can let go so he can hold onto him instead.
When the air seems to literally run out of the tent and Steve needs to open up the flap, Tony’s breathless but it’s clear from the delighted grin on his face that he’s completely fine with this. That this has been the best use of their time, obviously, just because of how happy they both feel right now. ]
God, you’re beautiful. [ He presses a kiss against his jaw before kissing him again. It doesn’t last as long, since he’s still catching his breath, but he just couldn’t help it. ]
I think I’m sold on the whole tent thing with this, by the way. [ He smirks, mischievously. ] You may just have to make out with me more if I start having second thoughts about it.
[ Steve is already breathless when Tony gives him that compliment, and the complete blush of red that rises from his neck to his cheeks is immediate. The only saving grace that its nearly pitch dark outside — the fire had gone out long ago — with the sole exception of some beams of moonlight.
But Tony follows it up with another kiss and Steve just finds himself even more out of breath as he watches the gorgeous, brilliant man on top of him. ]
Oh, yeah. Did I not mention that this— [ He pushes his body up and presses up against Tony for another kiss. ] —is a regular camping, tent activity? [ There's a big, satisfied grin on Steve's face.
His hand lets go of the zipper though and for the first time, Steve doesn't return his hand to Tony's back. Instead, with some hesitance, mostly because he wants to savor this, he rakes his fingers through Tony's hair. ]
You did not. But you’re forgiven ‘cause it’s a pretty damn good surprise.
[ Tony’s damn sure that the grin on his face is never going to go away, especially when Steve kisses him again.
But then he follows that up by running his fingers through his hair, and Tony closes his eyes as he does that, as if enjoying the sensation of it. To the point that he tilts his head a little towards where his touch is, as if to ensure himself that this won’t stop just yet. His hair has always been a weakness of his and, considering he looks almost like a cat enjoying being petted right about now, it’s probably more than a little bit obvious. ]
And you’re wonderful. [ The words come out in almost a sort of purr before he leans in and presses a kiss against the side of Steve’s neck. It’s quick - he doesn’t want him to think he’s pressuring him into anything, but he couldn’t help it. ]
no subject
Or should I wait 'til morning to see if I survive the sleeping bag?
no subject
no subject
Thanks.
no subject
no subject
Especially when he notices the affection in Steve’s eyes, the way his features seem to soften along with the look in his eyes. Is he just imagining it? For a moment he can’t help but wonder if that’s the case, if it’s just the campfire playing tricks on him, but he’s still there. Steve isn’t moving away, and it’s like he needs to remind himself to breathe again. ]
...is it bad if I really want to kiss you right now?
[ The confession comes out before he can stop it, the way Steve is looking at him disarming him in a way that he doesn’t know how to ignore it. ]
no subject
] I... hadn't planned for that to happen.
no subject
] Now I’m glad you brought barbecue sauce with you.
no subject
Steve stays close too, experiencing for the first time what it means to be this close to Tony to begin with. But when Tony steals another, quick kiss, Steve finds himself breathing out a laugh. ]
I'm just glad you came at all.
[ It's still surreal — how far from this they were just a few hours ago, and where they are now. ]
I feel like... [ Steve's eyes wandering to the sand beneath them for a moment, as he works it out. He laughs again. It's still breathy and feels like with it, carries the sense that Steve still thinks this is unbelievable. ] ... lately, I just can't get enough of you.
no subject
I was afraid I was going to make it awkward.
no subject
no subject
I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable about any of this.
no subject
Promise me you'll tell me?
no subject
When Steve shakes his head, Tony grins back. Especially at that look on his face that makes his heart feel like it skips a beat.
His smile only falters a little when Steve makes that special request, mainly because Tony doesn’t want to ruin things - and somehow it feels like bringing up his arm would ruin things - but after a moment he just nods slightly. ]
Okay. I promise. I think you’ll be able to tell - when it’s bad it... I can’t quite hide it, but I’ll tell you. [ He smiles slightly, looking down for a moment. ] ...sorry. I kinda wish you wouldn’t have to deal with...it.
no subject
From where I'm sitting... that arm is proof that you're one of the best people I know.
no subject
You make it very hard to say no to you.
no subject
Come into the tent with me?
[ The marshmallows have been long forgotten. ]
no subject
This thing isn’t going to collapse on us, is it?
[ He’s teasing, and it shows in his voice. ]
no subject
If it collapses, I'll protect you.
no subject
When he pulls back, he smiles and explains: ] Gotta celebrate being in a new space together.
no subject
no subject
Yeah, I think we need to make this a tradition whenever we get somewhere new.
[ Especially with how many new places they want to explode. Tony had already been excited about their plans, but this just adds a new layer of excitement on top of it all.
As Steve pulls him in, Tony gladly melts into his touch as he kisses him back. Like Steve, he doesn’t want any of this to stop. He wants this to last forever, and as he grasps his shirt and pulls him close as he kisses him deeper, he wants him to know just that. ]
no subject
no subject
When the air seems to literally run out of the tent and Steve needs to open up the flap, Tony’s breathless but it’s clear from the delighted grin on his face that he’s completely fine with this. That this has been the best use of their time, obviously, just because of how happy they both feel right now. ]
God, you’re beautiful. [ He presses a kiss against his jaw before kissing him again. It doesn’t last as long, since he’s still catching his breath, but he just couldn’t help it. ]
I think I’m sold on the whole tent thing with this, by the way. [ He smirks, mischievously. ] You may just have to make out with me more if I start having second thoughts about it.
no subject
You're... incredible.
no subject
